Episcopal Church Memorial Foundation, Great Falls, MT

The Mission of the Episcopal Church Memorial Foundation is to receive memorials, bequests and gifts, to invest and manage these assets in a responsible manner, and to make grants for the betterment of the Church of the Incarnation and the wider Christian community, in cooperation with the Vestry of the parish.

The Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees consists of twelve members. The members of the parish elect nine of these trustees and three trustees serve as ex-officio members (the Rector of the parish; the Senior Warden of the Vestry; and a representative of the Episcopal Church Women of the parish). Our Episcopal Church Memorial Foundation was founded in 1957 and has served our parish for the past 50 years.

Trustees of the Memorial Foundation are available to assist members of the parish who may wish to give a gift in memory of a loved one or to make a bequest to benefit the parish in their will. Printed publications are available from the Memorial Foundation to assist parish members in estate planning.

Currently, the Memorial Foundation oversees three different funds, all of which are invested and managed by professional investment advisors. The first is a fund made up of donations and memorial gifts from which grants are made in support of Christian related activities of the parish and the wider Christian community.

The second fund is the Endowment Fund of the parish. The charter of this fund provides that the annual income from this fund (or up to 6% of the gross fund) is available to the Vestry of the parish to fund budgetary needs or outreach programs selected by the Vestry.

The third fund is a “Perpetual Stewardship Endowment Fund”, which is held by the Montana Community Foundation. This fund was created to accommodate a Montana law that provides certain income tax advantages for donors to non-profit organizations. The Montana Community Foundation manages and invests these funds and disburses the income generated by the investments. This fund serves as a vehicle for people to make tax advantaged gifts to benefit the parish that would to provide for annual “stewardship gifts” to the parish in perpetuity.

Anyone desiring assistance or publications from the Memorial Foundation is encouraged to contact the Foundation President, William Macfadden, 452-4185, or the Vice President, Dr. James Reeves, 727-5927, or any of the Memorial Foundation Trustees.
